Initials
The initials in our logo stand for our principal attorney, Shawn D. Bartley. Mr. Bartley is a dedicated lawyer with a strong commitment to clients.
Prior to starting his legal career, he worked in a corporate environment, gaining extensive training in sales and customer service to help the company meet its goals. Today he applies those skills to client cases, helping clients receive an outcome that meets their objectives.
Mr. Bartley represents clients in both state and federal courts. He works closely with each and every client to ensure a strong understanding of the clients' unique needs and objectives, and he personally guides clients toward a favorable resolution.
Star
The star in our logo represents service. At Shawn Bartley and Associates LLC, we pride ourselves on building direct and ongoing relationships with our clients. We keep clients informed of developments and encourage them to contact us with any questions or concerns they may have. Additionally, an attorney from our firm personally guides clients through the legal process. We will listen to clients' concerns and provide advice on solutions that can accomplish client goals.
Pillar
The pillar stands for justice and the importance and belief in the law. We do not view the law as a hindrance, or something that prevents our clients from achieving their objectives. Rather we view the law as the basis for the protection and advancement of our clients' interests.
Olive Branch
The olive branch represents our belief that we can work through problems with the opposing parties. We consider a trial as a last resort, preferring to negotiate "win-win" solutions that safeguard our clients' interests, while fostering a positive working relationship with the opposing party.

Shawn D. Bartley, Esq.
Attorney at Law and President
Prior to attending law school, Shawn D. Bartley, Esq. worked for Advo, Inc. and American Honda Motor Corporation, Inc. During his time with these companies, Mr. Bartley learned the importance of customer service, delivering results, and earning the satisfaction of clients. Mr. Bartley uses his corporate experience and training to relate to client concerns and to find legal solutions for client issues, unlike many lawyers that have only law firm experience.
Mr. Bartley is a licensed practicing attorney in the state of Maryland and is the founder and principal partner of Shawn Bartley and Associates LLC. He has successfully represented clients in family law, estates, real estate, and business/ corporate matters. In 2011, he was recognized by "Legal Shield" as its #1 corporate referral attorney. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and is a past fellow of the association’s Leadership Academy (2005).
Mr. Bartley is a graduate of the Valparaiso University School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana and a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a scholar athlete. While in law school, Mr. Bartley was active in numerous activities, including Moot Court, Mock Trial, Negotiation Team, and the Student Bar Association. As an undergraduate at the University of Maryland, Mr. Bartley was a volunteer for President Bill Clinton’s federal initiative Summer of Service in 1993, working with the Maryland Student Service Alliance.
Mr. Bartley is an experienced board member. He is the past Chairman of the Board for the Montgomery Collaboration Council for Children, Youth and Families, having served from 2010 until 2012. He is currently a member of the board for the Primary Care Coalition for Montgomery County and a member of the board for The Shepherd’s Table.
Mr. Bartley is adept at public speaking and interpersonal communication. He became a Certified Toastmaster in 1997 with Toastmasters International, Inc. and is a member of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Maryland and Silver Spring Lodge #215, having attained the degree of Master Mason. Mr. Bartley is also a member of the Scottish Rite – Valley of Washington in the Orient of the District of Columbia, having attained the 32°.
Additionally, Mr. Bartley serves as a trustee for the D.C. Scottish Rite Foundation. Mr. Bartley considers himself a family man and is married to a Montgomery County school teacher. They are the proud parents of two children.
